National Celebrations a Chance to Reach Out

Apr 5, 2018 / Amanda Chase, Horsesmouth Assistant Editor

In April, the SSA celebrates National Social Security Month, a month dedicated to educating the public about who they are, why they exist, and the programs and services available to help Americans “Secure Today and Tomorrow.” Throughout the month, the SSA will encourage its customers to “Get to Know Your Social Security” with a focus on online transactions. SSA will also collaborate with groups and organizations around the country to host numerous events and activities to raise awareness about its many valuable benefits, services, and programs.

You can get in on the fun, too! This webpage has plenty of great resources including:

  • Posts you can use on social media channels
  • Articles to use in your newsletter
  • Banners to place on your website
  • Videos about Social Security from Suzy Orman

In an embarrassment of riches, April 9-15 is National Retirement Planning Week. You can find resources here, including:

  • Social media guide
  • Digital toolkit
  • Retirement statistics
  • Banners for your website
  • Sample newsletters and press releases
  • Infographics

Use this opportunity to reach out to your community and show them that you have the expertise and personal touch to help them understand what Social Security means for them, and how it fits into their retirement income plan.
