NCPSSM Launches Voter Education Campaign: Social Security is on the Ballot

Jul 20, 2026 / By Elaine Floyd, CFP ®

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare has announced the launch of a new voter education campaign, “Social Security is on the Ballot.” With the Trust Fund expected to be depleted in the early 2030s, the senators elected in November will still be in office when that happens. They therefore have an opportunity—a mandate, really—to reform the system and restore solvency.

“The stakes for current and future seniors couldn’t be higher. Depending on the composition of the next Congress, Social Security could be strengthened (and expanded)—or radically cut and privatized,” says NCPSSM President and CEO Max Richtman. “It all depends on which course Congress takes, and that depends on your vote.”
